Well I continued the upper game myself against Robbo (I gave it 15'+10'' TC from the position), and it got mated in 15 quite comfortably (I didn't see the mate in 9 though), and I'm pretty certain I'm a crappy player ;).

Just played a queen odd game against Robbo 10'+5'' TC. Easy win.
1500 elo difference is simply nothing for queen odd. As simple as that. The odd is too big.
The same way that a perfect play (God, 9000 elo engine or whatever) would never be able to draw against an average GM with rook odd.

I would not be so sure a 1000 elo rated player or lower could win this, those are the kind of odds I bet you could give to a 1000 elo player or lower and win maybe 50% of the time if not more. 8-)
I can win this game with both eyes closed and and the moves read out loud.
