both the CTF and to some extent the CCC forum have got themselves into a bad positive feedback loop built around the moderation system.

CTF in particular operates with a bored dominant bully gang which waits for newbies or returning oldies to start a fight with. The technique is to attack, when the 'victim' responds other gang members join in and if the victim answers all the gang in turn it is made to seem as if the victim is the centre and therefore the 'reason' for the chaos. Simultaneously the mods are bombarded with complaints about the victim's behaviour from the rest of the gang, the victim gets banned or deleted somehow, the bully gang feel victorious and so it goes on. Eventually everybody sensible leaves, only fools and bullies remain and of course the pool of available moderators becomes increasingly sub-standard and basically is composed of the dominant bully gang itself.

Swami, myself and later Ed tried to improve the situation there a few years back but we became the targets of an almost year long unpleasant hate campaign by the bullies and ended up unable to change a thing. Avoidance is best policy imo.
