Your Favorite Stephen King?

Post by Swaminathan » Thu Jun 10, 2010 4:35 am

It appears that he is undoubtedly America's most read author. I have only read few of his books though: IT, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, The Long Walk, The Shining, The Green Mile. I think The Long walk stands out as the best one I've read.

Few days ago, I watched the films "Apt Pupil" and "The Dead Zone". the first one was a great thriller.

The first Stephen King book I read was The Stand back in 1991, and I will never forget the experience. It will always be one of my favorite books. I then read The Tommyknockers which I also found enjoyable. I remember reading Needful Things around 1993, but I don't remember much about it. I do remember that the movie came out right after I read the book and that it wasn't very good.

I've read bit of The Stand, and bought the DVD mini series version. It's about 7 hours or so.

The Long walk is really an underrated gem. I heard Darabont is making a film out of it.

The Stand, Salem's Lot, It, and the novella The Long Walk are the Stephen King works that I have enjoyed the most.

Another good one is "thinner". Has an Alfred Hitchcock type ending that I won't spoil...
