Comparison Houdini - IvanHoe - Stockfish

Post by Stefan » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:28 pm

The time management of some engines is not optimal especially at super fast games. So I use 1s fixed time per move for my test. Now time management is no longer an issue. The new IvanHoe 53 does not run on my AMD-CPU. Therefore I chose the version 54 that is a bit stonger than version 63 and equal to 57a. I decided to use no endgame tables. One reason is that I don't know how to load the Triple Bases automatically on engine start.

AMD 2GHz, single core, 32 Bit
1s fixed time per move
no endgame table bases
opening suite 200 positions Top200 by Sedat Canbaz, reverse colors

Code: Select all

Houdini 1.03a w32 1_CPU	- IvanHoe 9.54b w32 400 (+138,=211,- 51) 60.9 % +76
Houdini 1.03a w32 1_CPU	- Stockfish-18-32-ja 400 (+185,=141,- 74) 63.9 % +100
IvanHoe 9.54b w32 - Stockfish-18-32-ja 400 (+143,=155,-102) 55.1 % +36

Program Elo + - Games Score Draws

  1 Houdini 1.03a w32 1_CPU : 103 18 18 800 62.4 % 44.0 %
  2 IvanHoe 9.54b w32 : 31 18 18 800 47.1 % 45.8 %
  3 Stockfish-18-32-ja : 0 19 19 800 40.5 % 37.0 %

Houdini is a monster on 1 CPU. In another thread when I said it was at least 5% faster than IvanHoe, that was kind of well...the truth is 10% or more.
