[Fritz] Customize the starting position in an Engine Match?

Post by Marc Benford » Sun May 05, 2013 11:11 pm

Hello.

I just bought Houdini 3 Pro with the Fritz 13 interface, and I also have Fritz 12.
I was wondering if it was possible to customize the starting position in an "Engine Match"?

Surely there must be a way, but I can't find it..

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I didn't understand how to make it work... I went in "Database", I ticked the box "Use", but when I click on the button " ... " next to "Openings" I have no idea what to do next...

You click with the mouse,
opens a window root directory, you find the file you want how openings,
any ready-made or prepared by you.
In PGN or CBH format, and that's it.

You can find the basics to start in the WWW. or in this forum.
or example gaviota_starter with 2400 positions from here:
https://sites.google.com/site/gaviotach ... e/download

Example you can use this program to move from epd to pgn.
http://www.rebel.nl/epd2diag.htm

Good luck.

Why does it have to be so complicated... Well, here's what I did :
- I began a game with the Benko Gambit accepted : 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 c5 3. d5 b5 4. cxb5 a6 5. bxa6 g6 6. Nc3 Bxa6.
- I saved the game somewhere in CBH format.
- In the Engine Match window, I clicked on the " ... " button (next to "Openings").
- I chose the Benko Gambit file.
- I ticked the box "Use".
- I clicked on "Ok" and the game started.
But the engines didn't play the Benko Gambit at all...
