WinBoard engine for large Shogi variants

Post by H.G.Muller » Sun Jul 14, 2013 10:55 am

I recently released a new and much improved version of my engine for large-board Chess variants, namely HaChu 0.15, and created some web pages for it. Unlike the previous release (0.7 beta), which was sort of embryonic, this one has a decent search (including null-move, LMR, extensions and QS). The evaluation has been optimized for Chu Shogi (12x12 board), but should also do a pretty good job on Dai Shogi (15x15). Larger variants are still not completely implemented, but will be so in future versions (starting with Tenjiku Shogi). For fun I also implemented Makruk and Shatranj (because they are quite Shogi like, without castling and e.p. capture).

The engine can play under the Alien Edition of WinBoard (although Shatranj and Makruk would also work under regular WinBoard).
