Ready to go Chess software for Windows 7?

I'd like to find some ready to go chess software for Windows 7. I hate Chessmaster - crashy junk. Tried Fritz 10 and it drives me crazy trying to use it. Saw something about Crafty Chess but those things appear to be esoteric software for programmers or something, I have no idea how to install or use them.

Is there anything good for Win 7 that will install easily and is easy to setup and use, that I can just play chess against my PC with?

If it hasn't to be a super strong chess program, try SMIRF from following
site: http://www.10x8.net/chess/SMIRF.html, where following
file has to be used: SmNewSetup.exe.

I would say Fritz 13, but if you didn't like Fritz 10...

Maybe try Lucas Chess. It has a lot of training options, principal among which is playing against chess engines.

Arena is nice:
www.playwitharena.com/

I like Tarrasch:
www.triplehappy.com/

Jose has a pretty gui:
jose-chess.sourceforge.net/

I am fond of Winboard:
hgm.nubati.net/
and it is especially nice for playing online at free chess servers like FICS (but you run into a lot of rude people at those places).

SCID variants are good:
scidvspc.sourceforge.net/

This is one of my favorites (I have bought the CA 14 version):
chessok.com/?page_id=26712

If you have trouble setting things up like you want, get some nerd to help you.
