Some Notes about CTG/BIN book future

Post by Sedat Canbaz » Thu Nov 30, 2023 12:03 pm

Hello there,

Just I'd like to inform you and be aware of that,
Recently I tested many engines (with CTG book future) and unfortunately
The same CTG book bug still remains...not fixed..I wonder why? is it hard?
Btw, do you aware about what I mean ?)

Actually this is known bug but anyhow, once more for anyone missed:
As before, even via latest tested engine releases,
All CTG's loosing book moves are picking till to the end of opening!
And this is also true that
Quite frequent, mostly games are lost due to error book moves.
I mean with huge disadvantage start...

Note also that,
CTG book option only Green OFF/ON did not make sense too...

Meanwhile...normally in my understanding:
It should be out of book...please see Fritz GUI,
If a CTG opening book is based on only wins...

As other important BUG, (sure when playing via CTG book) sometimes
Those engines lost on 'time' under Cutechess: disconnects from game etc.
And all new engine releases have these mentioned bugs, very strange..
E.g after checking, the error message is something like 'disconnects' etc.

Plus as other IMPORTANT note (related to best book move off),
I've played some strength testings via Stockfish 220823 sl as well
And after checking...the proportion of openings is not same...

And to be more clear:
After comparing Raubfish SC or SF-Poly 220723 then
Everest book prefers much less B opening codes
I mean it is all right...no any problem!

But if Everest 300923 book is via Stockfish 220823 sl,
Then Everest book could not gain much points.. as reason:
Everest book is preferred too many B code openings....

Btw, I did not check with 'Width' 1 option, but it's clear that
BIN Book 'Width' 2 option is different, prefers more variety..
And more variety means less engine strength... hope helps )

And I hope also that,
All the mentioned bugs to be fixed by the programmers...

Thanks in advance,
Sedat
