Re: Need small test of Houdini on AMD Phenom II processor
@ Jean-Paul,
Thanks, these figures are in agreement with my expectations. On Intel processors (P4, Core Duo, Core i5, Core i7) the V2 version is expected to be 2% to 5% faster than V1.
V2 is in fact the Houdini version as I've compiled them in the past, which seems to be the most efficient on Intel.
V1 is a different compile which I expected to perform better on AMD Phantom II, but apparently the numbers currently don't add up.
@64x,
I can wait as long as you want, any data is very welcome .
Robert

Hope I did this right and it helps. I did a "go depth 23" with both versions, results attached.

64x, thanks!
Your data confirm robbolito's findings that on a Phenom II x6 the V2 version is 20% to 25% faster than the V1 version.
This is exactly the opposite of what I expected, I'm really puzzled by AMD .

Anytime, please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Re: Need small test of Houdini on AMD Phenom II processor
Robert, is it safe to use V2 for some serious analysis I need or is it too much of a development version?

Yes, the development version is perfectly valid - without any particular problems or missing parts.

That is great. Thank you for replying.
