Re: Stockfish No.1 It's Senseless to Buy a Chess Program!

I do agree with the above posts... I actually don't use Stockfish for analysis (instead Firenzina and Critter), but do use it for tournament testing.... So perhaps my post was misleading.

But my point is, there are many free engines which are very comparable to the strongest. So buying a commercial ...

Haha. It seems a no-brainer, doesn't it. But some people don't agree.

Re: scidb

Scidb has lots of custom Tcl/Tk which makes porting it to Windows quite hard, and OSX almost impossible i think :?
Lots of tough work anyway, messing with window managers and the like.

BTW - Scidb's drag and drop file open has been ported to Scid vs. PC, and works nicely. It's in SVN. Drop targets ...

Re: IvanHoe 999946 Beta

Thanks.
Sorry for being such a noob.
I found the -Dx86_64 definition in the IvanHoe Makefile, and despite some awful warnings it compiles and runs ok. :)

My main system is ancient BTW (Fedora 7). But you can get away with running an old Linux generally as long as you're prepared to compile ...

Re: IvanHoe 999946 Beta

Hmmm... I coudn't find any instructions about compiling.

Trying the new 32 bit binaries i get
/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found

And "make IvanHoe" gives

gcc -g -O3 -fstrict-aliasing -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-exceptions -Wall -I../include/ -Dx86_64 -DVERSION=\"999946f-RobboLib ...

Linux 32 bit

Can anyone get Strelka Linux 32 bit to work in Scid's analysis window ?
I can't get PV happening. It goes great in ScidvsPC tournaments though.

All i get is a badly formatted info line ending with "pv (null)".
