Hello Homayoun,

Thank you and excellent news to see a newer PlentyChes ver!

You may notice or not, for example according to Yoshie2000,
Current release is about 20+ Elo stronger than previous ver..
If true.. means (after SF) 2nd strongest Public chess engine!

After all, to be sure,...you know,
Serious testings required...but there is one true,
Under handicapped conditions, with odd pieces:
PlentyChes fully deserves to be called as P. Morphy!)

Greetings

Moreover,
In case of more fair tour conditions (such as up to 40 MB),
Then the strongest chess engine would be PlentyChess 6

Btw, even the older version,
PlentyChess 5.021 managed to be Number One in my latest tours:

Greetings

Hi Sedat
Thanks too. Yes, Plentychess is one of the bests and also plays beautiful chess which is very important and also rare nowadays. Very nice engine and also complete freeware package ( it supports chess 960 too. )
Best regards

Meanwhile
A quick test, so we need much more games...but anyhow, it seems
Yoshie2000's mentioned Pre-Elo (20+) did not work...at least so far!

And why ? very likely due to SCCT's used conditions are not same!
Moreover, playing vs older release may lead to wrong conclusions..
In other words, much better testings vs not same kind of engines!

However, here are the recent played results:

Code: Select all

Score of Obsidian 16.02 vs PlentyChess 6.00: 55 - 16 - 429 [0.539]
... Obsidian 16.02 playing White: 41 - 3 - 206 [0.576] 250
... Obsidian 16.02 playing Black: 14 - 13 - 223 [0.502] 250
... White vs Black: 54 - 17 - 429 [0.537] 500
Elo difference: 27.2 +/- 11.3, LOS: 100.0 %, DrawRatio: 85.8 %
500 of 500 games finished.
Conditions:
2x Epyc 7B12, CuteChess, Ponder OFF, 30s+0.5s, 1 Core, 64 Hash, 4-MEN
Both engines used to play via Unique suite: each opening played twice

Btw, very soon,
I am going to test older PlentyChess 5.021 vs Obsidian 16.02

We'll see..there will be any influence or not but on other hand,
I admit also that Obsidian 16.02 engine is just another star, but
Belonging to the brightest ones!

And please stay tuned...very soon newer result update is coming )

Best,
Sedat

Sometimes we see that there is difference between what an author claims about his/her engine ELO and what exists in reality ( may be better to say: in others tests) , according to different tests conditions. I played some blitz games with this version of Plentychess (6). And I feel it is not an aggressive engine too. Obsidian is more aggressive. Combination of strength and aggressiveness is very important. I think because the Obsidian author also contributes to Patricia engine( the most aggressive engine) project.
Best regards

Yeah...not always (as current situation):
Authors Elo announces are reflecting to reality...
For this ...we are born... to check, to see..!)

On other hand,
True..Patricia engine is very aggressive one,
I test it often too, but mainly for private use...
