IvanHoe 0B.01.08

Post by kingliveson »

IvanHoe 0B.01.08 (Windows x64 only) is a mod based on IvanHoe beta 999947c source code. It has an interesting dynamic style of play. There's no reason to believe it is stronger, and as a matter of fact, you might be better off not downloading it.

Code: Select all

Rybka vs IvanHoe, Blitz 1m 2011

1 IvanHoe 0B.01.08 x64 +21 +18/=17/-15 53.00% 26.5/50
2 Deep Rybka 4 SSE42 x64 -21 +15/=17/-18 47.00% 23.5/50

Edit: File removed (x3) and reloaded with slight correction yet again. The latest should have a time stamp of 11:18. :)

Thanks, Kingliveson, for this different IvanHoe and an all-compatible compile.

Just an observation about the compile's Time Stamp;
I think you may have it backwards. This compile has the time stamp of January 08, 2011, 8:18:13 PM while the initial compile turns out to have the January 08, 2011, 11:18:12 AM time stamp.

Ok, I have finalized the build and don't know whether to call it IvanHoe 0B.01.08 or IvanHoe 0B.01.09. Just let me know and I will release it. Sample game below from my 10 rounds 10 minute test.

Ok here it is -- and version 0B.01.09 x64 before the name change:

Lets not get too excited because it's only 10 games and Houdini more than likely is still roughly 50 Elo plus ahead. The only difference from IvanHoe 0B.01.08 x64 is time management.

Please include the large pages inside the parameters, as the engine is playing crap, and does not stand a chance against Houdini...

+50 elo bahhhhh, it is more likely +191 elo in Houdinis favour.

sorry it was for 0.8 version, haven't tried this 0.9 yet. Anyway I hope you include the large pages, because Houdini already displays these and Ivanhoe doesn't, which makes it a little unfair when testing...

The same approach as Houdini is used including popcnt auto detection. I personally don't care for LP in Windows because the Operating System is not a true multi-user environment and forces me to engage in a bad habit that most Windows users practice in order to use this feature. So I dont use it.

I seriouly doubt 191 elo difference -- 75 % win ratio?

The term dynamic style of play is prefered, lol.

The difference from latest IvanHoe 0B.01.08 to IvanHoe 0B.01.09 is time management and it is signficant. Look at the games below (difficult position for White), normally IvanHoe would have gotten into time trouble spending way too much time on easy moves -- so either ended up losing or not winning games where it has an advantage.

The eval score is also interesting...TripleBases (64 MB Cache) does help as well.

All that said, I don't expect it to be able to compete against Houdini and especially at extremely fast games -- it's almost unfair. :)
