Thanks for the test, is the 8 cpu version of Houdini buggy or something? Perhaps it's slow relative to 4 cpu especially for a 10 seconds per position.

Note the big difference in Sts 7: it could have some meaning for the author...

Can you run the same tests again and check whether the results are still the same? I've run the engine a few times and never got the same result. Might be something about the Arena GUI or maybe the 10 sec limit but never been able to replicate same result twice...

I've done the same test to Houdini twice at one core (to eliminate multicore randomness) and it gives the same result (92/100 1:35 in my computer). (The first suite)
